Cigar City Jai Alai

Tonight's beer: Cigar City Jai Alai

Cigar City Jai Alai

Lots and lots of juicy citrus to start: grapefruit, lime, and orange; pine and grass and flowers threaded densely in with some soft-ish pithiness. Bread very much in the background—call it structure, I guess—with toast and caramel dancing around the perimeter. Juicy-bittersweet, then nicely dry.

Medium-bodied, carbonation maybe a bit on the light side. Some resinous-syrupy stickiness around the finish. Scrubbing, drying, very refreshing.

A delicious and very drinkable IPA. Fragrant and beautiful before the first sip. Intense and complex, not necessarily balanced but poised and nicely integrated. Sometimes I see this when I'm in Georgia, and I usually buy it when I do. Definitely worth seeking out.
