Anchorage The Tide and Its Takers

Pale fruits—citrus mostly in the shape of lemons, woven with pears, apples, white grapes, peaches—wrapped in earth and grass and funk deep enough to make Bootsy weep. Some pale bread in the background, briefly, with hints of spice. Wraps up extremely dry.

Astonishingly light-bodied, highly carbonated, drying and refreshing. Some tart pucker through the middle, then mostly clean and cleansing.

Oh, look! It's a Bretty tripel (or something pale and at least quasi-Belgian, anyway) and I like it. Shocking, I know. Bracingly intense and impressively complex, dominated by the Brett—but I kinda like it that way, and I suspect it's about what the brewers intended. It's big enough (though the 9% ABV is difficult to detect, bordering on impossible) and Bretty enough that it's mostly a sipping beer; a very drinkable one, though. Also, a beer with a great name.
