Tonight's beer: Blue Mountain Classic Lager
Pale bready sweetness up front, with hints of caramel/toast and maybe a trickle of honey. Grassy-floral bitterness lingers in the background, with possibilities of earth, citrus, and pine. Wraps up pleasantly dry.
Light-bodied, well-carbonated. Clean and cleansing, drying and astonishingly refreshing; just a trace of bready chewiness.
This is a beautifully simple and straightforward pale lager, massively drinkable. Moderately intense, more simple and direct than complex (both eminently suitable for the style); poised and balanced and entirely of a piece with itself. A marvelous beer for yardwork or grilling, undemanding but rewarding close attention; subtle and supple and graceful.
