Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break

This afternoon's beer: Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break

Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break

Dark bread, chocolate, coffee; caramel and dark fruits (shading toward burnt) filling some sweet, backed by burnt toast and hints of baking spices. Earthy-grassy bitterness lurks on the periphery; possibilities of smoke and peat waft past.

Thick, dense, moderately well-carbonated. Massively chewy and sticky: bread-puddingy and syrupy. Eventually, gently drying. Booze is remarkably subdued, especially for 11.5% ABV.

A really impressive big coffee stout, thick and substantial and remarkably drinkable (in a big sipping beer kinda way). Overpoweringly intense and staggeringly complex, less dominated by the coffee (and other roasts) than I might have expected, but still definitely more poised than balanced. Even with spending a while in the bottle (I don't exactly know how long we've had this sitting around waiting patiently for some afternoon when we felt like drinking a beer) this seems to reflect the brewer's intent very well. A delicious substitute for a cup of coffee.
