Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Bloodline
Almost-juicy bittersweet to start; bitter side backed by pine and flowers and grass, sweet by bread and toast and caramel. Flecks and flickers of spice and pepper, apples and pears and peaches. Evolves through some soft sweetness to finish pretty dry.
Medium-bodied, a little soft and chewy, nicely carbonated. A little flinty around the end; drying, cleansing, refreshing.
A very drinkable and delicious American IPA, with the blood orange in it showing up as some extra citrussy bitterness along with whatever the hops are bringing. Tons of complexity, impressively intense; nicely balanced and integrated. Graceful and supple. A good beer (no shit) from a brewery that have remade themselves as a local Maryland brewer, and I'm happy to have them.
