Tonight's beer: O'Dempsey's Big Red
Bready and a little toasty, with lots of caramel. Threads of earth, peat, grass and flowers. Dim impressions of smoke. Mostly sweet, evolves slightly toward dry.
Kinda thick and bready, a little slick and soft and dense, lightly carbonated. Filling and satisfying, eventually gently drying and refreshing.
A tasty beer, about as friendly and approachable as I'd expect from an Irish Red Ale. More smooth and drinkable than intense or complex, appropriately for the style. Probably a beer that would play nicely with lots of foods. Seems like a good introductory craft beer, which isn't anything to snark about.
