Tonight's beer: Red Hare Gangway
Bread and caramel up front, with distinctly whiskey-ish tang alongside. Dim flickers of pine and citrus, grass and flowers struggle to emerge. Wraps up whiskey-bready sweet and sour, with vague tendencies toward maybe becoming dry at some point.
Medium-bodied, more or less, decently carbonated. A bit of bready chewiness and syrupy stickiness. Eventually manages to scrape beyond kinda cloying. Distinctly boozy for 7% ABV.
At nearly six months ole, clearly a beer well past its prime. Interesting that as the hops character receded, the alcohol stepped up; with beers that have more body the alcohol generally seems to mellow. Kinda meh, overall, and I can't even guess what it would be like fresh. Oh, well; this one got away and got old. Not really the beer's fault; I might try this again if I see it fresh.
