Tonight's beer: Aztec Noche de los Muertos
Some chocolate, dark bread, caramel, maybe molasses to start; then some grassy-earthy bitterness emerges forcefully with a healthy sprinkling of cinnamon alongside. Dries out gradually but thoroughly behind a veil of smoke and ash and coffee.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Some stickiness, but not a lot given the style; a trace of chewiness maybe. Some drying into and through a long-ish finish; a vague boozy glow.
A pretty good spiced stout, with the cinnamon (and the slightly intimidating 10.2% ABV) merged together and almost contained. Insane and complex; in the range of balanced, all things considered. Definitely a beer that's big enough to drink slowly and savor one's way through. Kinda graceful and supple.
