Tonight's beer: Boulevard Single-Wide
Quite bitter to start: floral and grassy with broad stripes of pine and citrus. Dim distant flickers of pepper and spice. Bready sweetness makes a momentary impression, with grace-notes of caramel, then vanishes as the beer dries out abruptly and completely.
Light-bodied, well-carbonated. Clean, cleansing, scrubbing; drying and powerfully refreshing. Just a touch of resinous stickiness into the aftertaste.
A delicious beer, not as big as a lot of IPAs but massively drinkable and not so strong as to feel punitive after two or three. Intense and complex—especially given the 5.7% ABV—and holds together wonderfully; not balanced, exactly, but marvelously poised.
