Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Cinnamon Porter
Caramel, toasted dark bread, chocolate. Hints of coffee and cinnamon dancing past, alongside some earthy-grassy bitterness. Possibilities of smoke, ash, peat, burnt fruit hanging around. Eventually wraps up pleasantly dry.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some bready chewiness and stickiness, eventually drying and tilting toward refreshing.
A tasty porter, subtly spiced but complex and supple; well-balanced (not dessert-sweet by any means) and all of a piece with itself. Surprisingly intense, given the relatively moderate 6% ABV. Impressively drinkable. Another beer I'm happy to have stumbled upon, this one during a brewery visit.
