Tonight's beer: Santa Fe Saison 88
Tart fruits—some citrus (mainly lemons), some apples/pears/apricots/peaches. Pale bread fills in around the edges. Earthy grassy bitterness lurks on the perimeter. Dries out rapidly and completely into a quick and almost flinty-sharp finish.
Very light-bodied, highly carbonated. An almost peppery prickle on the back end. Clean and cleansing, astonishingly refreshing and immensely drying.
Very nice, clearly brewed to deal with a New Mexico summer. Remarkably intense and complex, given the 5.5% ABV; nicely balanced, unified, deliriously drinkable. ALl kinds of good things here. It's easy to see how these guys have been able to keep brewing for 25 years. A delicious beer from start to finish.
