Tonight's beer: Devil's Backbone Pumpkin Hunter
Lots of warm caramel, some pumpkins, a dense layer of dark-ish baking spices: (in no particular order) cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves. Bread and toast in the background, threads of nuts and toffee. Earthy-grassy bitterness in the distance. Mostly sweet, transitions gradually and subtly in the direction of dry.
Medium-bodied, kinda sticky, not much carbonation. Eventually softly drying, mildly refreshing. A bit syrupy and dense.
A delicious pumpkin pie of a beer, laden with spice and pumpkin. Intense and complex, given the 5.1% ABV; nicely balanced and superbly integrated. impressively drinkable, if definitely a dessert beer. I've happened upon some of these folks' other beers in tastings as samples, and I liked them plenty; this is on a par with those, and very nice.
