Tonight's beer: Lancaster Baked
Pumpkins, molasses/brown sugar/maple, caramel/toast, bread; baking spices woven through—cinnamon and nutmeg and cloves, mostly. Earthy-grassy bitterness struggles to emerge between the middle and the end, as the beer transitions slightly away from sweet. Dim flickers of whiskey and rum.
Thicker than medium-bodied, kinda sparsely carbonated; soft and sticky and a little smooth. Bready-chewy. Gently drying into and beyond the finish.
Yum! A delicious dessert beer—liquid boozy pumpkin pie. Distinctly sweet, but apparently intentionally so and nicely poised; remarkably intense and complex. Impressively drinkable, if maybe a beer to sip. Pumpkin beers aren't to everyone's taste, but I like them plenty; this is a good one. The fact it's local-ish is a bonus.
