Tonight's beer: Odell St. Lupulin
Lemony citrus up front, with threads of flowers; pine and grass around the edges. Pale bread in the background, with a flicker of caramel. Bitter, then some sweet, then gradually softly dry.
On the lighter side of medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Smooth, but eventually cleansing, drying, refreshing. A hint of flinty bristle around the finish.
Very nice. Given the name and the strength (6.5% ABV) I was kinda expecting this to skirt the border between American Pale Ale and American IPA; it is instead a pretty spot-on American Pale Ale. Intense, a tad straightforward; somewhat tilted toward hoppy-bitter but remarkably well-balanced for the style. Drinkable as hell. It's a pleasure to drink this for the first time.
