Tonight's beer: Sierra Blanca Nut Brown Ale
Caramel and sweet chocolate, toast and dark bread; dim impressions of molasses. Peaty-earthy bitterness—hints of tea buried in there somewhere—flickering briefly around the middle. Maybe dries out a little; darkly sweet throughout.
Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, lightly carbonated. Not particularly chewy, but some vaguely syrupy stickiness around the finish.Gently drying.
A delicious and drinkable English Brown Ale, pretty spot-on for the style, best as I can tell. Remarkably intense and complex, given the appropriately moderate alcohol content; nicely balanced and well-integrated. Impressive, and probably not what I would have expected of a beer from New Mexico. Very nice.
