Tonight's beer: Lancaster Baked
Pumpkins and baking spices—cinnamon and cloves, with possibilities of nutmeg and ginger—on top of toasted bread and caramel. Molasses emerges around the middle, then a little earthy-grassy bitterness. Mostly sweet from the start, through and beyond the finish.
Chewy and soft and a little thick; well-carbonated. Some syrupy stickiness lingers for along time. Eventually, some gently drying. More filling and drying than refreshing.
This is obviously and without question a dessert beer, but it's a nice one, perfectly adequate to wrap up a Thanksgiving. Intense and complex, and way too sweet to be balanced. Nicely poised, though, and drinkable enough. A nice pumpkin beer from a local-ish-to-me brewery.
