Tonight's beer: Ommegang Scythe & Sickle
Bread and caramel and toast, pepper and spice; dried/candied fruits lurk a step henind. Earthy-grassy bitterness emerges around the middle, hangs around into a long and gently dry finish, with thin veils of funk and faint trails of something herby like maybe thyme..
Medium-bodied, briskly carbonated. Nicely rounded and pleasantly drying; scrubbing and refreshing. A little stickiness, mostly around the finish.
This is a truly superb beer, perfect for the season and built to go with seasonal feasts. Wonderfully well-balanced, intense and complex, incredibly drinkable. I'm deeply in the tank for these guys, but this is a delicious beverage.
