Southern Tier Sonnet

Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Sonnet

Southern Tier Sonnet

Pale bread, just a touch of caramel; some dried/light fruits lurking—apples, pears, white grapes—and some lemony citrus around the fringes. Peppers and spice woven, and some grassy-herbal bitterness braided with earth and flowers and pine. Dries out sharply and completely.

Very light-bodied, decently-carbonated. Clean and cleansing; scrubbing and drying and refreshing. Practically no warning of the 8.5% ABV.

Is yum. Lots of intense and complex flavor, all nicely integrated and well-balanced. Some extra lemony-grassy notes, probably from the lemongrass (duh) but not anything crazy. Wickedly drinkable. Obviously, a beer that would play marvelously well with food, especially Asian and Indian. So, Southern Tier have brewed a completely delicious saison; somehow, I am not surprised.
