Three Taverns Quasimodo

Tonight's beer: Three Taverns Quasimodo

Three Taverns Quasimodo

Dark dried/candied fruits—cherries and plums and raisins and figs—on top of dark bread and caramel and toffee. Threads of smoke and tobacco and baking spice (mostly cloves and allspice); earthy-grassy bitterness emerges around the end as the beer dries out a bit. Brandy and rum and whiskey linger in the aftertaste.

Medium-bodied, maybe a little lighter, nicely carbonated. Remarkably little alcohol presence, considering the 10% ABV. Gently drying, surprisingly smooth and refreshing.

This is an utterly delicious and eerily drinkable quadrupel, a pretty spot-on take on the style. Intense and complex as hell, beautifully well-balanced and integrated; supple and subtle and graceful and poised. I keep grabbing stuff from Three Taverns when I find myself in Georgia, and they keep knocking it our of the park.
