Tonight's beer: Dogfish Head Punkin
Brown sugar, some toast and bread and caramel. Pumpkins an dbaking spices—cloves, allspice, cinnamon, maybe ginger—more in the background. Earthy-grassy bitterness flickers around the edges, emerging more as the beer evolves toward a little dry.
A bit thicker than medium-bodied, soft, nicely-carbonated. Eventually, some gentle drying around the very finish. Refreshing.
Gotta love this beer, this time of year. Pumpkin beers are wonderful around the holidays, and this is a very nice pumpkin beer. Intense and complex as hell, all holding together nicely and pretty well-balanced. Gloriously drinkable. So long as I'm not still drinking pumpkin beers come springtime, I'll be doing fine.
