Tonight's beer: Dry Dock Vanilla Porter
Toast, chocolate, coffee; vanilla sitting right on top. Grassy-earthy bitterness arises around the middle, with flickers of peat and smoke. Dark bread and caramel solidly in the background. Thickly bittersweet from start to finish, evolves slightly toward dry.
Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some syrupy stickiness around the end. Gently drying and surprisingly refreshing.
A very tasty porter, with plenty of vanilla but not completely dominated by it. Surprisingly well-balanced and -integrated. Intense and complex, especially for 5.4% ABV. Astonishingly drinkable. Definitely a beer to find, if you can. Delicious.
