Samuel Adams Noble Pils

Tonight's beer: Samuel Adams Noble Pils

Samuel Adams Noble Pils

Pale bread with grace-notes of caramel, braced against floral-grassy bitterness with flickers of earth and citrus and pine. Dim possibilities of nuts and dried fruits off in the distance. Wraps up quickly and sharply dry.

Light-bodied, briskly carbonated. Drying and impressively refreshing. Scrubbing and cleansing.

A nicely tasty Pilsner, straightforward and clean and direct. Pointedly intense, poised and balanced but appropriately simple. Impressively drinkable. The guys at Samuel Adams have some impressive technical chops, and the lack of any way to hide any flaws in this beer—nothing to hide them behind here—doesn't seem to bother them. Recommended, if you dig the style.
