Tonight's beer: Sierra Nevada Celebration
Lots of bitterness at the start: citrus braided with pine, threads of grass and flowers. Some bready sweetness touched with caramel flashes past, with sparks of pine and dried fruits; then the beer dries out sharply and thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Drying and refreshing; scrubbing and scouring and cleansing. A little resinous stickiness lingers into the finish.
One of the tastiest American IPAs, even though it's been steadily getting less hoppy every year since 1981. Even now, plenty intense and complex, and the marvelous balanced might be a result of over twenty years of degradation. Astoundingly drinkable. A beautiful beer for the holidays.
