Tonight's beer: Uinta (Crooked Line) Oaked Jack
Vanilla, caramel, toast; cooked pumpkin liberally sprinkled with cloves and cinnamon and maybe ginger, with other baking spices lurking. Butter, smoke, earth dance along the periphery. Contained sweetness from the start, shading slightly toward dry by the finish.
A bit thicker than medium-bodied, lightly but adequately carbonated. Some bready chewiness, especially around the middle; some syrupy stickiness lingering into and through the end. Roughly no warning of the 10.31% ABV Gently drying, eventually, with a subtle touch of warmth in the belly.
An exceptionally tasty big pumpkin beer, with bourbon character present but tightly restrained. Surprisingly well-balanced, and holds together superbly; staggeringly complex and impressively intense. Sneaky, subtle, supple, graceful, drinkable as hell. Emphatically worth it to grab a bottle of this, every year.
