Tonight's beer: Avery Twenty-One
Floral-grassy bitterness poised against dark-bready/chocolatey sweetness. Hints of citrus, pine, coffee; maybe some caramel lurking. Complexly and richly bittersweet from start to finish, evolving smoothly to sharply dry by the aftertaste.
Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Some resinous and syrupy stickiness, a touch of soft bready chewiness. Cleansing, drying, powerfully refreshing. No hint of the 8.3% ABV, anywhere.
Egad! This is a delicious beer! Balanced, intense, complex; drinkable as hell. Unified and integrated, supple and graceful and subtle. I don't drink as much of Avery's beers as I probably should, considering how much I like them when I drink them.
