Tonight's beer: Gigantic Pipewrench
Strongly herbal, almost medicinal at the beginning; some bready sweetness braced against grassy bitterness, emerging around the middle and not lasting long.Finishes weirdly sweet and tending toward funky.
Kinda thick and syrupy, lightly carbonated, leaning toward cloying. Not hot, exactly, but harshly medicinal into the finish.
I thought I'd heard good things about Gigantic, though it's possible I just can't stand gin; I'm disappointed in this, as it is. One-dimensional and strange and almost seems like some sort of quality control error. In any event, it's a beer that doesn't work for me. Oh, well. Stuff happens.
