Tonight's beer: Samuel Adams Noble Pils
Grassy-floral-earthy bitterness on to of soft pale bread. Hints of pine scattered among flickers of caramel and toast. Drifts from a bitter beginning to a dry end, with a momentary flash of sweet along the way.
Light-bodied, highly carbonated; clean and cleansing and starkly drying. Powerfully refreshing.
Unsurprisingly, a technically proficient Pilsner (it is Samuel Adams, after all); aesthetically pleasing in the style's typical straightforward manner. Precise, poised, balanced; plenty of flavor, but more direct than complex. Not a lot buried in this beer, but worth paying attention to. Drinkable in a didn't-I-start-with-a-six-pack way.
