Brewer's Art Coup de Boule

Tonight's beer: Brewer's Art Coup de Boule

Brewer's Art Coup de Boule

Pale-bready sweetness opens, with streaks of dried/candied pale fruit—pears, apples, white grapes. Spice, warm and woodsy, comes next: the cardamom and cinnamon on the label, and some allspice and cloves. Dries out steeply into the finish. The faintest tinge of something almost medicinal in the aftertaste, but nothing anywhere near unpleasant.

Very light-bodied, explosively carbonated. Clean and powerfully cleansing; scrubbing to the point of scouring; immensely drying and intensely refreshing. Really, no alcohol presence, even considering that 7.5% ABV is very low for the style.

A delicious beer, with some spices but not by any means dominated by them. Intense and complex as hell, wonderfully well-balanced, beautifully integrated. Astonishingly drinkable. Brewer's Art, as usual, has made an excellent beer. I'm glad they're local, and I'm glad to have found and acquired this beer.
