Tonight's beer: DC Brau The Public
Citrus-piny bitterness to start, on top of toasty pale bread laced with dried pale fruits (apples, pears, golden raisins); floral-grassy threads emerge in the background as the beer dries out rapidly and thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, with good scrubbing carbonation. Drying and refreshing; just a trace of resinous-syrupy stickiness around the finish.
A delicious American pale Ale, drinkable as hell and low-enough in alcohol that one could make a session of it, if one wanted. Remarkably intense and complex for a 6% ABV beer, nicely balanced and marvelously integrated. DC Brau make some superb beers, and this is definitely one; I can easily see why this beer shows up on recommendation lists.
