Tonight's beer: Green Flash Palate Wrecker

Green Flash Palate Wrecker

Floral-citrussy bitterness explodes on the palate, laden with grapefruit, lemons, limes, oranges; pine and grass flicker and weave inside and alongside the weave; hints of musk trail behind. Pale-bready sweetness shades to juiciness, a counterpoint more than a balance. Slides along a shallow slope to remarkably dry, eventually.

Bready chewiness, resinous-syrupy stickiness, light but adequate carbonation. Long, gradually drying finish. Roughly zero alcohol presence. Scouring, eventually cleansing; too intense to be more than a little refreshing.

A delicious Double IPA, unsurprisingly a bit of a wild ride (though my palate never feels wrecked after drinking this beer). Surprisingly balanced, but crazily (or maybe giddily) intense and complex; alarmingly drinkable and well-integrated. This is one of my favorite beers in the style; there's less of the pine and a little less citrus than in others, but this is very, *very* nice.
