Tonight's beer: Dieu du Ciel Équinoxe du Printemps
Lots of sweetness: caramel and toast, bread, maple and vanilla; hints of dried figs and dates, a smattering of toffee and nuts. Traces of peat and smoke, earth and grass in the distance. Dries out gradually, eventually, at least a little but.
Medium-bodied or thereabouts, nicely carbonated. Some bready chewiness and some syrupy stickiness through the middle into the finish. Alcohol presence is extremely subdued, just about to the point of being nonexistent. Softly drying by the end, practically refreshing.
Wow. Wee Heavy is a style close to my heart, and this beer *nails* it. Intense and complex; wonderfully integrated, a nicely poised malt-bomb. Alarmingly drinkable, practically sessionable. Dieu du Ciel have always impressed, and this beer is no exception.
