Tonight's beer: Weyerbacher Tango
Cherries on top of toasty-caramel dark bread, with flecks of nuts of toffee. Background hints of dark fruits: figs, dates, plums, grapes. Earthy-grassy-floral bitterness emerges toward the end, with a sparkling of baking spice—cloves and allspice, cinnamon and ginger. Threads of brandy and rum. Dries out gradually but pretty thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, or a bit on the light side of that; nicely carbonated. A little syrupy stickiness, but mostly cleansing and refreshing, gently drying. A soft boozy glow is the only hint of the 10.6% ABV.
A delicious beer from a brewery I've come to trust a lot; it's nowhere near as far into cherryland as Mad Elf (much as I love that beer, it's true). Intense and complex as hell, smooth and drinkable, superbly integrated and remarkably well-balanced. Kinda makes me wish I could stumble upon more of these folks' limited-release beers.
