Tonight's beer: Anchor Winter Wheat
Chocolate and dark bread, some caramel and brown sugar/molasses. Hints of dried/candied, fruits, maybe some baking spice and some coffee. Earthy-grassy bitterness lurks in the background. Finishes kinda dry, eventually.
Definitely smooth; a bit thicker than medium-bodied and nicely carbonated. Some stickiness and chewiness, but mostly clean and gently drying and refreshing.
A very nice dark wheat beer; not a Bavarian-style dunkelweizen, but not drying to be, either. Lots of dark-roasty bittersweetness, but complex and surprisingly well-balanced; big and intense, as one might expect from a beer this strong. Superbly integrated. AN excellent beer for a dank spring evening. Just to be clear: that's dank like a dungeon, not dank like good weed.
