Firestone Walker Pivo

Tonight's beer; Firestone Walker Pivo

Firestone Walker Pivo

Grassy-floral bitterness, poised against pale-bready sweetness. Background impressions of citrus (mainly lemons) and pine, caramel and toast. Wraps up quickly and very dry.

Light-bodied, nicely carbonated. Clean, cleansing, drying, immensely refreshing. Almost scrubbing, into a mostly quick finish.

This is a surprisingly convincing Pils—just about the only thing I can find to disagree with is maybe too much lemon in the hops profile. Intense, more straightforward than complex (the way I'd expect, given the style); poised and balanced and integrated. Wonderfully drinkable. Precise and linear. It's good to find such a persuasive Pils from a brewer like Firestone Walker; it's nothing like the other (thoroughly American) beers I've had from them. Very nice.
