Tonight's beer: Tröegs Nugget Nectar
Intensely bitter at the beginning: pine and citrus (grapefruit, orange, lime) backed by grass and flowers, hints of musk and tropical fruits. Bready sweetness a step behind, layered with caramel and a dash of toast. Hints of dried pale fruits on the periphery. Ends stunningly dry.
In the vicinity of medium-bodied, decently carbonated. A bit drying, very refreshing. Some bready chewiness, some resinous-syrupy stickiness.Scrubbing and almost scouring.
Yup, one of my favorite beers, period. Intense and complex for days, marvelously well-balanced and superbly integrated and almost disgustingly drinkable. Goes well with assertive food, stands on its own; pretty much does anything you might want a beer to do (though it's probably too bitter to cook with, mostly).
