Southern Tier Hop Sun

Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Hop Sun

Southern Tier Hop Sun

Starts with a bright flash of grassy-floral bitterness. Pale bread sits in the background, with a thin smear of caramel. Hints of earth in the distance. Wraps up bracingly dry.

Very light-bodied, briskly carbonated. Very clean, massively drying. Scrubbing and cleansing, almost scouring; intensely refreshing.

It's a wheat beer, but this is clean enough that it drinks almost like some sort of Pilsner or something. Pretty intense (especially given the relatively mild 5.1% ABV), more straightforward than anything else; precisely balanced and nicely integrated and massively drinkable. I'm an incorrigible Southern Tier fanboy, but even allowing for that I think this is a superb beer (though lots of other folks might think of it as a classy lawnmower beer).
