Stillwater Artisanal Classique

Tonight's beer: Stillwater Artisanal Classique

Stillwater Artisanal Classique

Starts with a lot of pale fruits—some pears and apples and white grapes; hints of mostly-lemony citrus—with some bread in the background. Earthy-grassy-floral bitterness in the distance, emerging more into the quick, dry finish.

Very light-bodied, highly-carbonated. Drying like getting lost in the Gobi, powerfully cleansing and refreshing. A little stickiness around the edges but overwhelmingly clean.

A marvelous beer, demonstrating that sky-high alcohol content isn't necessary for big flavor. Intense and complex, nicely balanced and entirely its own thing. Drinkable as heck, and a wonderful table-strength beer that would play well with a variety of foods.
