Tonight's beer: Tröegs Cultivator
Lots of grassy-floral-earthy bitterness, with ample bready sweetness a solid counterpoint. Hints of nuts and toffee and honey; caramel and toast in the distance. Evolves gradually in the direction of dryish.
Thick and bready, decent carbonation. Lots of chewiness in the middle, stickiness into and past the finish. Eventually, softly drying and surprisingly refreshing.
A very tasty helles bock, a marvelous change of pace as a spring seasonal beer (as opposed to all the IPAs and saisons and wheat beers, though I love those, too). Lots of flavor, pretty straightforward but nicely balanced. Smooth and solid, graceful and poised, drinkable as heck. Yet another superb beer from Tröegs.
