Tonight's beer: Apocalypse Beer Works Red Hoppocalypse
There is a lot of bitterness to open, mostly grassy and floral with threads of pine, citrus, a little musk. Bready-caramel sweetness lurks right behind Maybe a touch of honey. Slides gradually dryward, eventually.
Bready-chewy, some resinous-syrupy stickiness. A bit on the thick side of medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Kinda drying, scrubbing and scouring, eventually working in the direction of refreshing.
Pretty impressive, especially for a brewery that comes across as very new, and perforce pretty small. Nicely balanced, as good amber ales typically are, balanced and complex as heck, well-integrated and superbly drinkable. I may have to keep my eyes open for these folks.
