Tonight's beer: Boulevard The Calling
Floral and grassy bitterness opens hard, with threads of musk and tropical fruits; pine and citrus on the fringes. Pale bread lurks in the background, present mostly in the interstices. The beer evolves quickly to shockingly dry.
Medium-bodied, maybe a little lighter-bodied; very nicely carbonated. A little resinous stickiness, mostly cleansing and immensely refreshing. Practically zero alcohol presence—maybe a slight prickle.
A delicious Double IPA, maybe a little too close to balanced to really exemplify the style; definitely poised and composed and graceful. Intense as hell, and very complex; amazingly drinkable. Obviously my love for Boulevard continues unabated.
