Food and Beer!
The food is oven-roasted pulled-pork (because we don't have decent access to an outdoor cooking space) with a beer-n-apple butter barbecue sauce, with some decent pickles. That's roasted broccoli with a garlicky mustard dressing beside it.
The beer is Samuel Adams Boston Lager, which IMO doesn't deserve the sniping it gets from some corners of the beer-nerd community. It goes well with lots of food, and even in the worst case manages to get out of its own way. Also, as it turns out, it plays nicely as the beer in the beer-n-apple butter barbecue sauce.
This worked pretty well. For one thing, it's hard to find a beer that won't work well with pork (impossible might be more accurate). For another, drinking a beer that's a pretty major ingredient in the dish is likely to work well.
