Lancaster Milk Stout

Tonight's beer: Lancaster Milk Stout

Lancaster Milk Stout

Lots of chocolate and caramel, coffee lurking underneath. Dark bread, toast, molasses arise around the middle with counterpoints of earth and peat and grass. Slides gradually toward dry through the finish.

Maybe a bit thicker than medium-bodied with some nice carbonation. A bit of stickiness, softly drying and refreshing. Distinctly smooth.

This is a beer I keep coming back to, both the style (sweet stout) and this example: Milk stouts are usually good examples of high flavor-to-booze-ratio beers. There's a good amount of flavor here, intense and complex; nicely balanced and unified. Impressively drinkable.
