Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Hop Sun
Starts with a bright flash of grassy-floral bitterness, maybe some fruit or spice. Pale bready sweetness lurks in the background, drizzled lightly with caramel. A sprinkle of pepper in the distance. Wraps up starkly dry.
Very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Powerfully drying and scrubbing, astonishingly refreshing. Just a trace of stickiness.
It took longer to write up my notes on this beer than to drink it. It's a beautiful summer beer, with enough going on that it rewards attention. Plenty and intense for 5.1% ABV, wonderfully balanced and integrated, massively drinkable. Kinda plays in the same ballpark a some Pilsners.
