Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas Riptide
Floral-grassy bitterness, threads of pine; lemony citrus and pepper emerge a moment later. Pale-bready sweetness appears for a moment, then slides back into the bitterness, and oblivion, as the beer dries out quickly and thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, maybe a bit lighter, lots of carbonation, amazingly smooth. A little chewiness and some distinct resinous stickiness linger. Eventually, intensely drying and massively refreshing; pretty clean, cleansing and scrubbing.
This is a style that's not as common as I'd like, and a remarkably tasty example. Stupidly refreshing and drinkable for 7.5% ABV; complex and intense, but beautifully integrated (if more poised and graceful and supple than balanced). I'm always happy to sho and share my love for a brewery that's local to me, especially this one.
