Ommegang Tripel Perfection

Tonight's beer: Ommegang Tripel Perfection

Ommegang Tripel Perfection

Coriander and pale fruits—mostly pears and apples—and flickers of orangey citrus to open. Grassy-floral-earthy bitterness arises into the middle and lingers through a long dry finish. Caramel with just a touch of darker sweetness dances around the periphery. Flickers of pepper in the distance. Gets a little sweeter as it warms.

Medium-bodied, with lots of fine and lively carbonation; in spite of that, smooth, and a little sticky-chewy. Evolves to scrubbing and cleansing and massively drying, powerfully refreshing. Roughly no impression of the 8.9% ABV.

This is a delicious, delicious beer; it's no surprise that Ommegang know their way around the Belgian styles. Lots of intense and complex flavor; nicely balanced and well-integrated. Astoundingly drinkable. If it's not the perfection promised on the label, it's close.
