Tonight's beer: Three Taverns A Night on Ponce

Three Taverns A Night on Ponce

Starts out searingly bitter: flowers (flecked with musk), citrus (mostly orange and lime), pine. Pale bread glazed with caramel fills in right behind. Grass emerges more toward the finish as the beer sidles toward dry.

Medium-bodied, some decent mild carbonation. Scrubbing and drying and cleansing and astonishingly refreshing. Just a trace of resinous stickiness lingers.

This is a delicious IPA; it manages to be a standout in a very crowded field. Shockingly intense, bogglingly complex; marvelously well-integrated, even if it's only balanced in a relative and broad and very generous sense. Amazingly drinkable. Three Taverns continue to impress; there are reasons we grab their beers whenever we go to Georgia. Highly recommended.
