Tonight's beer: Brewer's Art Sangreale
Starts with a flash of grassy-floral bitterness; then some pale-bready sweetness emerges, fringed with some fruity tartness. Bitterness reasserts itself, counterpoised by bread and caramel and some dark fruit, then the beer dries out sharply and thoroughly.
A bit lighter than medium-bodied, lots of carbonation. Scrubbing and cleansing, drying and immensely refreshing. A hint of pucker on the finish.
A very drinkable and utterly delicious saison. Brewer's art have lots of excellent beers in various Belgian styles, and this is another. Intense as hell and remarkably complex, wonderfully well-integrated and balanced, clearly entirely intentional. Definitely a beer made to go with food.
