Tonight's beer: Oskar Blues Gubna

Oskar Blues Gubna

Grassy-floral bitterness opens, with threads of pine and maybe citrus woven in. Pepper emerges around the middle on top of pale-bready sweetness; caramel lurks around the edges. Bitterness remains alongside the pepper as the sweetness fades to s steeply dry finish.

Medium-bodied, maybe a little thicker; bready-soft and chewy, with a good amount of fine-spritzy carbonation. Lingering resinous-syrupy stickiness. Rapidly drying, eventually somewhat cleansing and refreshing.

A searingly intense beer, bitter but poised and something like balanced (given the style), delicious as hell from start to finish. Complex enough to reward close attention. Drinkable as hell, with pretty much no warning of the 10% ABV. Oskar Blues make good stuff.
