Tonight's beer: Local Option Die Königin
Pale-bready sweetness to open, with a firm counterpoint of flowers and grass and lemony citrus. Dim smoky threads on the periphery. Evolves quickly to briskly dry.
A little lighter than medium-bodied, well-carbonated, silky-smooth. Some hints of bready chewiness and stickiness. Drying, cleansing, impressively refreshing.
This isn't a brewery I've had anything from before, but a delicious beer. Kellerbiers are kinda rare—esoteric, even—so it's been a while since I've had one, but this seems pretty spot-on to me. Intense and complex, given the style (possibly at least in part because of the relatively high alcohol content for the style); well-integrated and balanced, and potently drinkable; poised and supple and astonishingly graceful. Yum.
