Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Sonnet
Grassy-floral bitterness open, dense and thick with lemony citrus woven in. Pale-bready sweetness steps forward a moment later, with juicy impressions around the edges. Finishes sharply quickly dry.
Light-bodied with lots of carbonation. Just a trace of bready stickiness lingers a while. Clean and cleansing, drying and immensely refreshing. Basically no hint of the 8.5% ABV.
A superbly tasty and massively drinkable beer. Impressively intense, remarkably complex, balanced and integrated. Graceful and subtle and supple. Alarmingly little alcohol presence for a beer this size. I'm so far in the tank for Southern TIer, I know, but this is really a delicious beer, entirely appropriate for an almost-summery October day.
